President's Day

The students each received a list of facts about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The facts about the presidents were on one piece of paper mixed up with each other. I read aloud to the students a summary of George Washington's life and they outlined facts about him in blue. Then I read a summary about Abraham Lincoln and the students outlined the facts about him in black. The students cut apart the facts and glue them on to the correct illustration of the president.

They truly enjoyed this! I also forced them to listen to what I was reading and also read the facts listed at their desk. It required great thinking and provided great conversations.....even between students! Several of them had prior knowledge tehy enjoyed sharing with friends.
