CHEAP CONTAINERS

I went to Home Depot the other day and of course wandered over to the storage containers to do some price checking.

FABULOUS DEALS!

President's Day

The students each received a list of facts about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The facts about the presidents were on one piece of paper mixed up with each other. I read aloud to the students a summary of George Washington's life and they outlined facts about him in blue. Then I read a summary about Abraham Lincoln and the students outlined the facts about him in black. The students cut apart the facts and glue them on to the correct illustration of the president.
They truly enjoyed this! I also forced them to listen to what I was reading and also read the facts listed at their desk. It required great thinking and provided great conversations.....even between students! Several of them had prior knowledge tehy enjoyed sharing with friends.

.....because I am not there....

Because I am not at school with you all today, here are some pictures....so I can sort of be there with you! I am not putting up the more bloody, intense ones in case some of you don't really have an interest in seeing those...

This is a picture of my dog (Mopar) and me this morning. Being lazy :)
<-- notice, the brace is off while I am just hanging out!! wuh hoo! That cooler in the corner is full of ice and has a tube that connects to an ice pack wrapped in my knee, constantly keeping my knee cold.

My mom took this picture in the doctor's office after they took all the dressings off and put on only one ace bandage!! (and one piece of gauze and one bandaid) I am excited!! Yes, my leg is still yellow from the procedure. Can you see how swollen my shin is?!

Oh yes, I am also very excited because they just told me I can take a shower now!! AHH! yay. after resting when I got home, that is the first thing I did.

I suppose that is enough for now. Have a wonderful turkey break everyone! Good luck
teaching your LAST week when we get back....
and I will see you when we celebrate turning
in our portfolios!!

The Opportunity to Tell a Story....

Let's see....the story of my life....
I am German and Irish. My grandma will be quick to pull out that we have some Indian in us, too. By the time genetics got to my sister and I, we are not very much Indian at all. My entire family is Catholic, and I went to Catholic schools all of my life, except third and fourth grade.

Adventures? Every day can be an adventure for me. There is always something challenging or an opportunity for me to create a challenge for myself, purposely or not. I went to Mizzou my freshman year, KU my sophomore year, and started K-State my Junior year. While there are legitimate reasons for me college- hopping, I feel K-State is where I belong. A few instances and situations were thrown at me and I just happened to dodge in the direction of Manhattan. I am glad.

In August of 2007, I went to see a friend in Belgium. She lived in Kansas City with a friend of mine while I was commuting to KU my sophomore year. It was a blast and I hope I get to wander around Europse again! There is something about just walking around in an unknown place. Fancy building with amazing architect just baffles my mind, leaving me craving more. Not to mention the FOOD! :)

Insights I have for the world...
take a chance, take a risk. What is really the worst outcome? I have tried not to be concerned with money and live my life. Somehow the bills always get paid. If an experience is truly worth you spending time on, then it is priceless.
